Tolarance

This week's theme is tolerance.

We had a great class with teacher, Marcus Baslev. His focus was on being empathetic and open minded. Among other things we learned a great activity called "the web".
The foreign exchange students in the class had to write one word on a piece of paper that explained what they noticed was different in Denmark compared to their home country. Us Danes had to write what we thought would be the most different thing to notice about another country. Read more about this exercise and other thoughts and assignments on my Tolerance page.

Identity

Who are we?
The question is regarding our individual identities... An important question especially when focusing on globalization and multicultural education.

I lived in New York City for 7 years from 2002-2009. The first 3 years I lived at International House, a dorm that houses 700 graduate students from around the globe.
A yearly tradition was the Fall Fiesta. Many students dressed up in local costumes from their respective countries. This was a fun and interesting way to see how different and similar we all were.
There is a great openness at I -House and my memories of living there are filled with appreciation for all the knowledge I gained from meeting so many people from around the world. I became a "Cultural Hour" assistant and helped create some wonderful cultural events with fellow students. My global perspective was definitely broadened from living in New York City and especially from my 3 years living at I -House!

Globalisation, as defined by rich people like us, is a very nice thing… you are talking about the Internet, you are talking about cell phones, you are talking about computers. This doesn’t affect two-thirds of the people of the world.

Here is definitely something to think about...
Let us hope that we, as future teacher's, may inspire our young generation to include the other two thirds of the people in the world!

Identity

This week's theme is identity.

We did several fun activities in class today. One of them was to make up a story from pictures we were given. Each of us were to tell our part of the story. In our native languageJ
You can see more photos on my “photo” page.
Class assignments for the week are yet to come…

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

As you know this week's theme is sustainability. So today a happy song came to mind that covers this week's theme and today's thoughts of love. "Heal the world" by Jackson. Here it is. Enjoy!

Sustainability

This week's theme is Sustainability.

The meaning of this word:
"The ability to sustain, to endure"... And what is it we need to sustain and endure in this context?.... You can read my thoughts on this subject on my Sustainability page. Please comment if you'd like.

Interpretation of photo

I found this photo on Facebook one day. I really liked it so I downloaded it. I think it is quite relevant for our course on globalization…
Let me know what comes to mindJ???
